Trenchless method
The total length of main and submain water-carrying pipelines from 100 to 400 mm in diameter in the RF is 1,550 thousand kilometers. Worn-out and subject to replacement - 464.5 thousand kilometers. Annually, this number is growing by 31 thou. Km, while only 9 to 10 thou. km are replaced. The problem is in huge financial loss due to faulty state of the subsoil utility networks which results in raising of subsoil water level and flooding of urban territories, which, then, leads to subsidence of buildings, structures and road pavement, noticeable water balance disruption and subsoil water contamination with household and industrial waste water. In a number of cities, leakage in water systems is reaching 50^%. According to the data provided by F.F. Erisman Institute of Hygiene, daily loss of sealing in pipelines has somewhat a negative effect on human health. Conventionally, the trench technology used to replace water-carrying networks is complicated and too sophisticated, it can’t be used in central districts of large cities. The solution to the problem is seen in the radical expansion of the use of cutting-edge technologies. This would allow us, on the coming years, to a large extent, and in the future, completely, to exclude from practice very laborious and expensive excavation, blocking main roads, streets, and driveways.
ADVANTAGES OF THE TECHNOLOGY:
- Minimal scope of preparatory & final works as well as their minimal cost;
- Use of equipment for carrying out works in a wide range of diameters;
- Small dimensions of the equipment allow carrying out works in the existing wells;
- Replacing larger sections;
- Expensive, unavailable or imported materials are not needed;
- The sets are adapted to the climatic conditions of Russia; and
- Mobility of power supply (compressed air supplied by a mobile compressor).
The research in this sphere is conducted by Kombest Company, which is engaged in the design, manufacture and sale of equipment sets for replacing and laying utilities using a trenchless method to consumers in many regions of Russia and neighbouring countries. These technologies are based on the fundamental research and developments of the Mining Institute - one of the leading scientific research institutions of the Russian Academy of Sciences in Siberia.
In addition, Kombest Company revamps and lays pipelines through their own employees.
